Often described as the most humanitarian house in Colorado, Cableland and its charity events have raised more than $16 million since the late Bill Daniels donated it to Denver in 1999.

The home is available for functions held by qualified charities 50 times a year.

Daniels, a pioneer in the cable-television industry, donated the 19,500-square-foot home at 4150 Shangri-La Drive, near Leetsdale Drive and South Colorado Boulevard, to the city for nonprofit organizations to use for fundraising.

Although no mayor has lived in the home, it is the official residence of the mayor of Denver. Mayor John Hickenlooper, who has a 3-year-old, said he doesn’t live in the house because it’s not “kid-friendly.”

“Did you see the fireman’s pole?” he asked.
