Undefeated super-lightweight boxer Mike Alvarado (12-0) of Denver has been added to the undercard for the greatly awaited Nov. 12 heavyweight championship match between WBC champion Vitali Klitschko and former champion Hasim Rahman in Las Vegas, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum announced Thursday.
Arum, in Denver on a 13-city promotional tour, said the undercard will feature a number of prominent Mexican and Mexican-American boxers in the hopes of attracting a large “crossover crowd.”
Alvarado, a two-time Colorado Golden Gloves champion, said he’ll fight whomever Top Rank schedules.
RMAC hoops championships move to Pueblo
The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference is moving its men’s and women’s basketball tournaments from Colorado Springs to Pueblo, the conference announced Thursday. The 2006 RMAC Shootout will be held at the Colorado State Fair Events Center in Pueblo on March 4 and 5. The top four men’s and women’s seeds will continue to host first-round games at campus sites.
