Contractors sued over rocket-launch venture
Lockheed Martin Corp. and Boeing Co., the two largest U.S. defense contractors, are being sued by Space Exploration Technologies Corp., which alleges their proposed government rocket-launch venture would form a monopoly.
Space Exploration is asking a California federal judge to block the United Launch Alliance joint venture and for monetary damages caused by Boeing and Lockheed, according to a court filing Wednesday.
Los Angeles-based Space Exploration’s Falcon rockets would compete with Boeing and Lockheed’s Delta and Atlas rockets, used by the U.S. Air Force’s satellite launch project called Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle program.
