New York

Who: Katherine Brady, Centennial

Where: Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Sleepy Hollow (about 25 miles north of New York), in the beautiful Hudson Valley.

Best meal: The Horseman Diner (914-631-2984), 276 Broadway, Sleepy Hollow. The salad is made with “headless” lettuce, and the hamburger is to die for.

Best deal: Kykuit, The Rockefeller Estate, for sure. Sleepy Hollow is the hometown of the Headless Horseman. The cemetery is the final resting place of John D. Rockefeller, Washington Irving, Walter Chrysler, Andrew Carnegie and Elizabeth Arden. Nearby is the Rockefeller estate Kykuit, which is open daily except Tuesdays. It is definitely worth the tour to see the impressive mansion and the Rockefeller modern art collection. The art collection is museum-quality, and the wall-

sized Picasso tapestries are amazing. It’s quite a deal, $22 for adults and $18 for kids, and you can walk around the gardens too. The whole tour takes about two to three hours.

Best time to go: Definitely mid- to late-October, when the leaves are turning color and crackle under your feet as you walk through the endless family plots in this 156-year-old graveyard.

Don’t leave home without: Your umbrella, a camera and a few good-luck charms to protect you as you take a spirited stroll through the creepy, sleepy cemetery.
