Pamela Henson has been named senior vice president for sales and marketing for the Denver Newspaper Agency, publisher of The Denver Post and the Rocky Mountain News.
Henson, 44, previously held that post at the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. She will oversee all print and interactive sales, direct mail, niche products, marketing, and community relations for the agency, said Kirk MacDonald, the agency’s president and chief executive officer. She starts Nov. 15.
Before joining the Star-Tribune, Henson was a senior advertising executive for the Los Angeles Daily News and The Baltimore Sun. She succeeds Dwight Brown, who left in late 2004.
Henson said she expects to work collaboratively with the company’s sales team to position it as “a one-stop shop for media needs throughout Denver and Colorado.”
In a related change, Colleen Brewer, vice president for display advertising, will take on additional duties, including display interactive sales. She will work with Henson and Tom Botelho, marketing vice president, on the agency’s marketing functions.
Fran Wills, interactive vice president, will focus on strategic development of new Web-based assets, such as new classified “verticals” for automotive, real estate and help-wanted advertising.
Others reporting to Henson include Ressie Pate, vice president for classified, and Tracy Ulmer, director of community relations.
The newspaper agency, created in 2001, publishes Denver’s two large daily newspapers under a joint operating agreement between Denver’s ap, owner of The Post, and Cincinnati’s E.W. Scripps Co., owner of the News.
