Grand Junction – Bobby Coy ran for 129 yards and two touchdowns to help Mesa State to a 21-14 victory Saturday over Colorado School of Mines at Stocker Stadium.

Colorado Mines (5-5, 5-2 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) gained 470 total yards to 241 for Mesa State (5-5, 4-3), but the Orediggers threw four interceptions. Coy had a 62-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and a 2-yard TD run in the second to give Mesa State a 14-0 lead.

Garrett Mehl threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Justin Gallas with 3:28 left in the game to get Mines within seven points, but Mesa State recovered the kickoff and ran out the clock. Mehl was 19-for-30 passing for 205 yards with three interceptions, while backup Danny Medina was 6-for-9 for 41 yards and an interception.

Adams State 42, Western State 0

Gunnison – Ernesto Villasenor’s 2.5 sacks led Adams State’s defense as the Grizzlies held Western State to just 118 yards offense in rising to second place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Adams State (6-4, 5-2) got to Western’s quarterbacks for five sacks, including four of starter Daniel Brethauer. The Grizzlies scored in every quarter, with Marcus Sias rushing for 151 yards and three touchdowns. Sias ran toward the goal line late in the second quarter, but he fumbled before scoring his fourth touchdown. Dave Copelan recovered for the score, giving Adams State a 26-0 halftime lead.

It was the most lopsided score in the 59-game history of the rivalry between Western State (1-9, 1-6) and Adams State.

Puget Sound 38, Colorado College 7

Tacoma, Wash. – Puget Sound gained 487 offensive yards and cruised by Colorado College at Baker Stadium.

The Loggers (4-4) jumped to a 14-0 lead at halftime. Puget made the score 21-0 after Silas Paul scored on a 3-yard run in the third quarter.

The Tigers (1-7) scored 19 seconds later, on a Nolan Swett 69-yard reception from Scott Green. Green threw for 193 yards on 15-of-27 passing to lead CC. Ross Alisiani had six catches for 85 yards. Puget Sound’s Rory Lee rushed for a game-high 242 yards on 34 carries.
