Mankato, Minn. – Brett Sterling had a hat trick and set up another goal, and Marty Sertich and Brian Salcido each had a goal and two assists as third-ranked Colorado College defeated Minnesota State 7-3 on Saturday night in the WCHA.
Two of Sterling’s goals came during a five-goal Tigers outburst in the second period. He also assisted on a goal during the frame and now has eight goals and eight assists in eight games.
Chad Rau added a goal and an assist and Jimmy Kilpatrick scored as the Tigers (7-1-0, 2-0-0 WCHA) completed the weekend sweep.
David Backes had a goal and an assist for the winless Mavericks (0-6-0, 0-4-0). Minnesota State goalie Mike Zacharias made 31 saves.
