Albuquerque – Katie Hnida, the former New Mexico reserve place-kicker from Chatfield High School and the University of Colorado, was on the field visiting former teammates Friday night after Colorado State’s 35-25 victory over the Lobos. Hnida found herself in the center of controversy in February 2004, when she alleged she had been raped by an unnamed CU teammate during her stay in Boulder.

Hnida is living in New York City, where she is working on a book.

She said she’s still training with an eye on the Canadian Football League or NFL Europe.

“I’m not ready to hang up the cleats yet,” she said.

Hnida became the first woman to appear in a Division I-A game when she attempted an extra point in the 2002 Las Vegas Bowl. It was blocked, but she hit two PATs in New Mexico’s 2003 opener against Texas State and didn’t play again.

She declined to give any details about the book.
