The University of Denver men’s soccer team will meet No. 5 seed Western Kentucky on Wednesday in the Sun Belt Conference championship. The teams met Sunday, with No. 4 seed Denver winning 3-2.

Roadrunners take No. 1 seed into tournament

The Metro State women’s soccer team, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference regular-season champion, will host the league’s postseason tournament at Auraria Field beginning Friday. The No. 1-ranked Roadrunners have won 43 consecutive games, 46 straight at their home field. No. 2-seeded and 14th-ranked Fort Lewis will play No. 3 and 20th-ranked Regis on Friday at 1 p.m. The winner will play Metro State on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Metro State men’s soccer team is the No. 2 seed in the RMAC Tournament and will play No. 3 seed Colorado Mines on Friday at Fort Lewis College at noon. The winner will play the winner of No. 1 seed Fort Lewis and No. 4 seed CSU-Pueblo in the championship game Sunday at 1 p.m.

Colorado State’s Ashley Fornstrom of Cheyenne was named the Mountain West Conference volleyball player of the week, the league announced Monday.

Buffs’ cycling team tops nationals

The University of Colorado cycling team won the 2005 Collegiate Mountain Bike Nationals in Seven Springs, Pa., on Sunday with a final score of 695 points. Colorado’s Jessica Vogt won the women’s mountain cross and downhill titles. The Buffaloes’ Josh Bezecny won the men’s cross country and individual omnium, and T.J. Sharp won the men’s downhill title.
