If anybody in America could be queen, it could only be Oprah Winfrey.

At least that’s what one long-time Aurora fan believes.

Nathanial Trotter, 50, a local inventor, hopes to ignite a movement in which Winfrey would ultimately be proclaimed a “symbolic official Queen of America.”

According to Trotter, Winfrey’s queenly qualifications include (but are not limited to):

1. She was named the most powerful celebrity in the world

2. She was voted most favorite icon in America

3. She pitched in to help Hurricane Katrina victims build new homes.

Trotter already has a coronation tune, “Oprah’s Song,” sung by his sister, Judy Turner. The single CD details the talk-show host’s accomplishments.

You think this is wacky? Maybe it all depends on how you view a cultural monarch.

To get an idea, Style asked Trotter about his crowning plans:

Q: How did this idea evolve?

A. Prince Charles (is visiting) America and I know he’s going to make a lot of noise and create some buzz in the news world. It just got me to thinking that Oprah would make a symbolic official Queen of America. No one comes close to her in this world, the way people love her. She is someone you’d like to come over to your house. She is a very warm and queenly figure loved by millions of people all over the world. Who else could come close as a queenly, warm and loving figure?

Q: What do you hope will happen at the meeting?

A: I want to get people there who are Oprah Winfrey fans. I want them to come together and design a nice webpage so we can make money to create her crown and a throne. Hopefully, when we get this together and she receives it, we can have a coronation ceremony.

Q: Does America need a queen?

A: In England do they need a queen? She is not the prime minister, but the people themselves desire to have her as queen. It can be the same thing for us. Oprah will not be a queen that we bow down to or who would touch our shoulders with a sword and declare us a knight. She would be someone we could look up to and admire. England has a queen; we can have a queen too.

Q: How would naming Winfrey queen better race relations in America?

A: Whenever you turn on the television, it is clear that this country is pretty much obsessed with race, slavery and what happened between the blacks and the whites. Oprah is so loved by everyone, black and white, that naming her the symbolic ‘Queen of America’ could be a common denominator to bring the races together in at least this one way we could all feel good about.
