Denver Nuggets rookie Julius Hodge will not be charged on an attempted sexual assault allegation, the Denver District Attorney’s office said today.
“The bottom line is that there was an inability to prove a charge beyond a reasonable doubt,” said Lynn Kimbrough, spokeswoman for District Attorney Mitch Morrissey. “We’ve declined to file.”
The 37-year-old woman who accused Hodge had been charged with crimes in four states, including perjury in California, and was fired from her restaurant job on Oct. 12, the day of her alleged encounter with him. Hodge denied her allegations.
She was also recently arrested after violating conditions of her probation on a menacing conviction in which she held a butcher knife to her husband’s throat, according to Jefferson County District Court records.
Hodge gave a statement to a Denver police detective on Monday and the case was later referred to Morrissey’s office. He has denied the allegation.
“We view Julius as a victim in this case,” said his attorney,
Norm Early, before the DA’s decision about charges.
