Blood is not thicker than water for Tom Cruise.

The actor has fired his sister Lee Anne DeVette as his publicist and hired PR pro Paul Bloch, TVGuide.com reported. Bloch represents fellow Scientologists John Travolta, Travolta’s wife, Kelly Preston, and Priscilla and Lisa Marie Presley.

According to something called the Genius StarPower report, Cruise’s celebrity ranking among 13- to 49-year-olds dropped from 12th to 50th. Plus, he went from the 11th most-liked celebrity to No. 197.

A rep for George Clooney denied a London Evening Standard story that said the actor was involved in a drunken brawl with a security guard at a premiere party for his film “Good Night, and Good Luck” last week in New York.

Publicist Stan Rosenfield said Clooney argued with “someone connected with the movie … it did have everything to do with someone being unkind to a woman.”

Elton John has stood up for Camilla Parker Bowles after American reporters blasted her sense of style, dubbing the duchess of Cornwall the “Frump Tower.”

“I just think they’ve had very negative press, pretty mean press,” John said, according to MSNBC.com, “and I just think it’s unnecessary.”

John’s defense of Bowles during her visit to the United States with husband Prince Charles irked fans of Princess Diana. “It’s ironic that someone who was supposedly a dear friend of Diana is now standing up for the Rottweiler,” one Diana supporter said.

Yoko Ono apologized to Paul McCartney in the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine, after denigrating his songwriting skills a month ago.

“I certainly did not mean to hurt Paul, and if I did, I am very sorry,” Ono said. Yoko’s apology comes 35 years late, or the Beatles might still be together.

Povich will co-host a Saturday morning show on MSNBC, the cable network confirmed Monday. The couple, who have been married since 1984, will review the week’s headlines and feature guests. The unnamed show will debut Jan. 7 and air at 8 a.m. Saturdays in Denver.
