Our son is Specialist Daniel J. Ward, hometown Steamboat Springs, CO, serves with the 3rd Combat Brigade Team, 4th Infantry out of Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, CO He is slated for deployment to Iraq later this month. He has served in the army for 3 years.
Daniel, you are our son and our hero. Your self-sacrifice and dedication to your ideals are an inspiration to us and to your many friends. We are humbled by your willingness to serve your country, to stand up for what you believe to be right, and your selfless dedication to your fellow soldiers. We miss having you here with us and pray that you will return from Iraq safe and sound, in mind and body.
We are proud to call you our son. When people are questioning the validity of our presence in Iraq and suggesting that those who support the president in this endeavor will not send their sons or daughters to fight we can stand proud that you chose to fight and we support you.
