Madison, Wis. – Jack Skille’s fifth goal of the season completed Wisconsin’s rally from a 2-0 deficit as the fifth-ranked Badgers tied No. 1 Colorado College 2-2 in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association game Friday night.

Tom Gilbert also scored for the Badgers, who are unbeaten in their last seven games (6-1-2, 5-0-2 WCHA).

CC’s Brett Sterling scored his nation’s-best 11th goal of the season and Joey Crabb also scored for the Tigers, who are 7-0-1 in their last eight.

Skille, a Wisconsin freshman, claimed the only goal of the second period to tie things at 2-2.

After a wild sequence in front of the net, Badgers forward Ross Carlson stole the puck from Tigers defenseman Jack Hillen and sent a backhanded pass to Skille in front. While falling to one side, Skille beat a fallen Matt Zaba with a shot from the right circle.

Wisconsin held Colorado College (9-1-1, 4-0-1) to a season-low 21 shots on goal while putting 33 shots on net.

Zaba made 31 stops for the Tigers, including several from close range.

Brian Elliott had 19 saves for the Badgers.

The Tigers skated out to a 2-0 lead with first-period goals by Sterling and Crabb.

Sterling carried the puck off the left-wing boards and beat Elliott between the pads.

Crabb flipped a backhanded shot over Elliott’s left shoulder from the right circle.

But Wisconsin got back in the game after a Colorado College power play late in the first period, when Jake Dowell floated a pass down ice to Gilbert, who was coming out of the penalty box, for a breakaway.

Gilbert fired a shot between Zaba’s pads to cut the CC lead to 2-1.

Both teams were 0-for-3 on the power play. Wisconsin had gone five straight games with a power-play goal before Friday.
