Jewbelation 5766
If Jeremy Cowan can get you to laugh, he can get you to drink his beer.
Cowan jokes but the beer is worthy.
Cowan is the marketing pixie behind the kosher-certified He’brew (“The Chosen Beer”) from his company, Schmaltz Brewing.
He came up with Genesis Ale (Motto: “Don’t pass out, Passover) on a whim in 1996 so it’s been nine years. Nine, he points out, is key in the Hebrew religion, central to Rosh Hashanah, and Hanukkah.
His latest creation is Jewbelation 5766, a big beer, 9 percent alcohol (by volume), made from, yes, 9,000 pounds of malts and nine different hops. The result is an American brown ale that starts out sweet and winds up with a nice hop finish. Very drinkable.
Jewbelation 5766 is available in 22-ounce bottles at larger retail outlets throughout Colorado and 14 other states. Shmaltz’s beers are contracted to Olde Saratoga Brewing Co. in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
