Rapids waive three, prepare for waiver draft
The Rapids on Tuesday placed forwards Diego Serna and Wolde Harris and midfielder Alain Nkong on waivers, making them eligible for today’s Major League Soccer waiver draft. If the players are not selected in the waiver draft, the Rapids will retain their MLS rights for 12 months.
Colorado Eagles sign backup goalie
The Colorado Eagles signed goaltender Jeff Blair, who will back up Paulo Colaiacovo for the first time tonight against the Tulsa Oilers. The signing forced the Eagles to release goaltenders Chris Davidson and Matt Iorianni. The Eagles got Blair in a trade made after training camp that sent defenseman Chris Shaw to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. Blair, 27, spent the past 1 1/2 seasons with the Mudbugs, posting a 29-11-7 record.
Parker to host cycling event
USA Cycling announced its 2006 schedule Tuesday, and one of five new races on the calendar is the Parker Mainstreet Omnium, to be held Sept. 15-17.
