The part played by the “Combover”
It’s an odd come-on for a documentary: “The ‘do with the strands of hair noodling from one side of a man’s head to the other, plastered against the bald, shiny top.” But now we’re hooked, and we all know exactly what they’re talking about, a “comb-over.”
Meet “Combover: The Movie,” a medium-length documentary by Denverites Chris Marino and Tim Fenoglio that has drawn crowds at the Starz Denver International Film Festival, in part because the duo has a lot of friends and in part because we’re freakishly fascinated. When you see a comb-over on the street, you want to ask, “Why? Why? Why?” That’s exactly what Marino and Fenoglio do, extracting frank responses. See it Sunday at the film festival, Starz FilmCenter Tivoli, at 6:30 p.m.
