The Colorado Inventors Showcase honored several inventors last week at the Cable Center. The event hosted by the DaVinci Institute named Yuriy Umanskiy, founder of Tactical Video Solutions, Colorado Inventor of the Year for the infrared pistol-mounted camera system he developed. Other first-place winners were: Trans Performance, in the consumer products category, for its self-tuning guitar; Tensegrity Prosthetics, industrial products, for its prosthetic feet; and HyperSites.com, software products, for its Web-builder software.

Heidi’s Brooklyn Deli at 32nd Avenue and Lowell Boulevard in the Highlands neighborhood will host Thanksgiving dinner from noon to 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. The meal is available to seniors and anyone without a place to celebrate.

Golden Star Resources Ltd. confirmed Wednesday that it resumed mining operations at its Plant-North pit on Nov. 3. The pit is currently the primary source of ore for its Bogoso gold processing plant at the company’s Bogoso/Prestea Mine in Ghana.

Pentax Imaging Co., a Golden-based provider of mobile printers, has added embedded Bluetooth connectivity as an ordering option for the PocketJet 3 and 3 Plus portable printer product line. The addition of Bluetooth provides a cable- free printing connection to a variety of laptop and hand-held Bluetooth-enabled devices.

Able Planet Inc., a Denver- based provider of technologies for people with hearing loss, announced Wednesday that it has won the Best of Innovation award for its LINX Technology, as well as three honoree awards from the 2006 CES Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase. LINX alters audio signals, carrying the sound more efficiently to the inner ear, which increases perceived loudness without increasing the volume.
