Golden – Jim Moore has been named Jefferson County’s top administrator, a unanimous decision made Wednesday by the Board of County Commissioners.
Moore, 52, joined Jefferson County as human resources director in January 2004. A year ago, Moore assumed duties as support services director.
He succeeds Patrick Thompson, who three weeks ago accepted a similar position with Hamilton County in Ohio. Thompson’s last official day in Jefferson County is Dec. 31.
The county board decided not to do a nationwide search for a new administrator, limiting candidates to Moore and County Attorney Frank Hutfless.
“The board decided that Jim will provide continuity in this time of transition while implementing the goals and directives of the board,” Commissioner Jim Congrove said on behalf of the board.
Commissioner Kevin McCasky said the board wanted to keep Hutfless in his current position because it would be “building a strong team.”
In a statement, Moore said he was “thrilled” with the board’s faith in him.
As administrator, Moore will earn $135,000, down $10,000 from what Thompson earns and up $20,000 from Moore’s current salary.
Moore was human resources director for Davenport, Iowa, prior to coming to Jefferson County. He has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Baylor University and did graduate work at the University of Texas at Arlington.
