Book Outlet now open on Fridays
The Book Outlet, a used bookstore operated by the Friends of the Aurora Public Library, has expanded its days of operation from two to three days a week.
The bookstore, in the Iliff Square shopping center at East Iliff Avenue and South Peoria Street in Aurora, now is open from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Fridays.
The bookstore also operates from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
The Book Outlet, which relocated this year to the space adjacent to the Iliff Square Library, sells used books to help fund Aurora Public Library services.
Volunteers are needed to staff the front desk and perform other tasks.
The Book Outlet is at 2243 S. Peoria St. To volunteer or to get more information, call 720-747-7977 or e-mail aplfriends@gmail.com.

Food runs low for needy families
Food reserves at the Jeffco Action Center, which assists about 120 households a day with food supplies, are hitting a low. Center officials say donations have been hit by national and international requests and they have been forced to buy food to keep the shelves full.
The center, at 8755 W. 14th Ave. in Lakewood, needs everyday items such as tuna, macaroni and cheese, soups, beans and rice. A complete list of needed food items is available on the center’s website, www.jeffcoac.org, or by calling 303-237-7704, ext. 206.
In addition, the center needs Thanksgiving dinner items, such as turkeys, hams, stuffing mix, yams, canned pumpkin, cranberry sauce, canned fruit and canned vegetables.
The center expects to distribute Thanksgiving food bags to about 1,500 families on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Food donations may be made from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Cash also would be helpful.
