A couple of good snow shows are on the calendar in Summit County next month. If you’re headed to the high country Dec. 5-11 for the Hartford Ski Spectacular, the nation’s largest winter sports festival for people with disabilities, or the Chevrolet U.S. Snowboard Grand Prix from Dec. 13-17, bring your backcountry gear, and also plan to spend a day or two checking out the town of Breckenridge, where 170 buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and there is an equal number of laid-back ski-bum hangouts. – Ricardo Baca
Getting around: This tour of high-country high points starts in Breckenridge, which is about 10 miles off of Interstate 70 on Colorado 9, and heads south from there.
