Buena Vista – Jake Fickle’s 53-yard touchdown pass to Caleb Graff with less than three minutes remaining in the game Saturday lifted Buena Vista over Kent Denver 17-14 in the Class 2A semifinals.

The Demons improved to 12-0 and will play at Holy Family in Broomfield in Saturday’s title game.

Graff’s touchdown catch capped a 14-point rally for Buena Vista, which entered the final 12 minutes trailing 14-3.

Earlier in the quarter, Vance Ray’s 1-yard touchdown plunge brought the Demons within 14-9.

Ray added a two-point conversion run to account for the final score.

In the first quarter, Ryan Guitterrez’s 22-yard field goal gave the Demons a 3-0 lead.

Kent Denver, which ended 9-3, came alive in the second quarter.

Brendon Henderson gave the Sun Devils the lead with a 4-yard touchdown run, then T.J. Slattery added a 1-yard scoring run. Will Deevy’s conversion pass to Matt Kelsic made it 14-3.
