Fort Collins – Colorado State will play Navy in the Poinsettia Bowl, the Rams’ ninth postseason appearance in 13 seasons under head coach Sonny Lubick.

Navy (6-4) accepted an invitation to the game on Monday.

Colorado State director of football operations Tom Ehlers confirmed today that the Rams (6-5, 5-3 Mountain West) will play in the Dec. 22 game in San Diego.

Navy will be making its third straight postseason appearance after becoming bowl eligible on Saturday with a 38-17 victory over Temple.

Navy could also win the Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy for a third consecutive year if it beats Army on Dec. 3 in Philadelphia. The trophy is awarded to the team with the best record in games among the three major service academies.

Both Army and Navy beat Air Force this year.

Colorado State became bowl eligible by beating UNLV 31-27 last weekend when Johnny Walker returned a punt 75 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
