Marriott Vacation Club International and Vail Resorts Inc. plan to build a new fractional and wholly owned condominium resort project in Keystone’s River Run base area.

Summit County’s Snake River Planning Commission recently approved Marriott’s plans for the Grand Residences at Keystone, to be located in the resort’s 4.8-acre Hunki Dori parking lot.

The land is owned by Vail Resorts but will be sold to Marriott in the next few months, said Grand Residences spokeswoman Beth Ridenour.

Initial plans call for three five- story buildings featuring 149 multifamily units, 1,890 square feet of commercial space and 11,000 square feet of space for skier services, such as an equipment-rental shop.

Vail Resorts also plans to relocate Keystone’s existing gondola and build a skier bridge. The company declined to comment on the project Monday.

This would be Marriott’s first Grand Residences development in Colorado.

The company has fractional ownership in Grand Residences in London and South Lake Tahoe, Calif., and one wholly owned development in Panama City, Panama.
