New Mexico led the all-Mountain West Conference team with seven selections, including offensive player of the year and four-time pick DonTrell Moore, a running back.

Poinsettia Bowl-bound Colorado State had just one first- team selection, punter Jimmie Kaylor, while Wyoming had one, wide receiver Jovon Bouknight.

Air Force did not have a first- team representative.

The biggest surprise for Colorado State was wide receiver David Anderson falling to the second team behind Bouknight and New Mexico’s Hank Baskett III despite finishing second in the MWC and 11th nationally in receiving yards at 99.5 a game.

CSU sophomore running back Kyle Bell also took second-team honors, along with offensive tackle Mike Brisiel.

League champion TCU placed Gary Patterson as coach of the year and running back Aaron Brown as freshman of the year.

Utah junior defensive back Eric Weddle took defensive player of the year honors.

Northern Colorado: Athletic director Jay Hinrichs said Monday he will head the search committee to replace Kay Dalton as football coach.

“I anticipate getting this complete before the holidays,” he said.

Hinrichs fired Dalton on Friday after he went 38-31 in six seasons, including 4-7 this past season – the Bears’ second as a Division I-AA program.

Hinrichs said he expects to close the application process by the end of the week.

“I know what I’m looking for: someone with a tremendous work ethic, the ability to succeed at the Division I-AA football level and the ability and energy to interact the football program with the community,” Hinrichs said.

Recruiting coordinator and running backs coach Keith Grable and two graduate assistants were retained to ensure some continuity in recruiting.
