Denver-based e-mail marketing agency Quris Inc. has been acquired by database marketing agency Merkle of Lanham, Md.

Quris, which has offices in Denver, Dallas and San Francisco, produces e-mail marketing programs for clients such as Charles Schwab & Co., Blockbuster, Dex Media, Vail Resorts and Wynn Las Vegas. The company was majority owned by Charles Schwab Corp. of San Francisco.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Quris will continue to operate from its existing locations and will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Merkle.

No job cuts are planned, said Mike Savage, vice president of marketing for Merkle.

Quris employs 50 people. About 35 are in the Denver office.

In October, Merkle acquired The Domain Group, a direct-response fundraising agency based in Seattle. Merkle also has a Denver field office with 10 employees. That office will continue to operate separately from Quris for the near future, Savage said.

Quris chief executive Scott Heimbrodt did not return a message Tuesday.

Quris was founded in 1999 by entrepreneur John Funk. Funk stepped down as chief executive in December 2003. He remains on the company’s board.
