Aurora police are recommending that relatives of a 10-year-old boy who was mauled by the family’s pit bulls be criminally charged.
In a press release this afternoon, police said they are encouraging the Arapahoe County District Attorney to file child abuse, animal cruelty and unlawful ownership of dangerous dog charges against Renee Denise Muniz and Danielle Denise Carson, mother and adult sister of Gregg Jones.
Three pit bulls attacked Gregg after he climbed the fence into his backyard in an attempt to enter his locked house after school on November 2nd at the family’s home at 16642 E. Asbury Avenue in Aurora.
One of the pit bulls was shot by police after the attack, and then euthanized. Two others are in a shelter.
Jones was mauled on his head, face, throat, arms and legs. Doctors had to amputate one arm.
