The University of Denver Pioneers struggled with their shot all game, so they relied on their defense Saturday.

Despite shooting 32 percent, DU (3-4) held off the Boise State Broncos (5-3) 55-51 at Hamilton Gymnasium.

“Our defensive intensity and execution made all the difference in the game,” DU coach Pam Tanner said.

Janna Cole led the Pioneers with 14 points. Jessica Thompson scored 17 points to lead Boise State.

Colorado Mines 63, Western State 43

Gunnison – Ashley Gronewoller scored 30 points, making 14-of-20 shots from the field, and had 18 rebounds to lead the Orediggers (4-3, 1-1 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference).

Liz Davies scored 16 for Western State (3-5, 1-1) and Kara West added 12.

Regis 83, Adams State 68, (2OT)

Alamosa – The Rangers outscored the Grizzlies 17-2 in the second overtime.

Diana Lopez had 24 points, Lindsay Viall had 17 and Aiste Slenyte 12 to lead Regis (7-2, 2-0 RMAC).

Erica Marquez had 19 points and Isil Ozkan had 18 points and 10 rebounds for Adams State (1-7, 0-2).

Metro State 68, Fort Lewis 60

Durango – Megan Johnson led a balanced attack with 14 points to lead the Roadrunners (5-2, 2-0 RMAC) past the Skyhawks (1-7, 0-2).

Mesa State 72, Colorado Christian 47

Grand Junction – Brittany Fowler scored 19 points for the Mavericks (3-4, 2-0 RMAC).

Sara Davis had a game-high 27 points for Colorado Christian (1-8, 0-2).

Fort Hays State 66, UC-Colorado Springs 53

Colorado Springs – Crystal Harden had 16 points and eight rebounds as the Tigers (6-2, 2-0 RMAC) defeated the Mountain Lions (2-4, 1-1).

Center Julie Richards led UCCS with 18 points.

CSU-Pueblo 78, Nebraska-Kearney 71

Pueblo – Lauren Westerman had game highs of 26 points and nine rebounds and Karin Hansen had 19 points to lead the Thunderwolves (6-1, 1-0 RMAC).

Melissa Hinkley scored 17 points for Nebraska-Kearney (3-4, 0-1).

Colorado College 94, Johnson & Wales 63

Colorado Springs – Freshman Melanie Auguste scored 21 points and the Tigers (6-3).

Freshman Rosalyn Wilson scored a game-high 32 points for Johnson & Wales (0-11).
