Don’t count Nathan Lane among those wowed by “Brokeback Mountain.” The openly gay stage and screen star went on the “Today” show Friday and, instead of treating the acclaimed Ang Lee movie about the romance between two cowboys in 1963 Wyoming and their unlucky wives with customary reverence, had a satirical field day.

“I wish I could quit you,” twanged Lane – who was on the show ostensibly to promote “The Producers” – mocking Jake Gyllenhaal’s cowboy confession to his bunkmate.

“It’s really when (Heath Ledger) said, ‘This thing gets hold of us the wrong time, the wrong place, we’re dead,”‘ Lane recalled as Katie Couric and “Today” crew members giggled. “I thought, ‘What do you mean, like the A&P? You’re in the middle of nowhere! Get a ranch with the guy! Stop torturing these two poor women and get a room! What’s the problem?”‘

Weezer lead singer Rivers Cuomo is continuing his celibacy past his self-declared deadline.

The 35-year-old frontman earlier vowed to remain celibate for two years. Although that deadline expired six months ago, Cuomo doesn’t expect to jump in the sack anytime soon.

“It’s been 2 1/2 years now, actually,” Cuomo tells Blender magazine in its new issue. “The vow is over, but I wanted to keep cruising.” Though he’s a lead singer for a popular rock band, the bespectacled Cuomo says it’s not difficult to manage restraint.

“We never had any serious groupies, anyway.”

Morgan Spurlock – who slung arrows at McDonald’s with his Oscar-nominated documentary, “Super Size Me” – is taking a whack at the political right wing’s disavowal of science.

Spurlock is making a documentary version of the best-

selling book “The Republican War on Science,” by Chris Mooney, which shows how the far right’s positions often clash with overwhelming scientific consensus.

“It’ll be me going on a journey to investigate issues ranging from stem-cell research to evolution,” Spurlock told the New York Post. “I want to talk to people on both sides of the issue.”

Talk about an office party …

Madonna’s got nothing on the cast of “Rescue Me,” the F/X channel dramedy starring Denis Leary.

The New York Post reports that last Tuesday night, a band of merrymakers led by Leary swarmed the bar at the Hotel Gansevoort and decided to play Truth or Dare with shots of vodka. But the actors – including Leary, hunky co-firefighter Daniel Sunjata and vixen Callie Thorne, right, – preferred “dare” and turned the game into an exhibitionism session.

“There were no make-out sessions,” a source said. Instead, the “Rescue Me” revelers were “baring their breasts or their (male private parts) – or they’d moon someone. “Denis slid down a banister completely naked. He did it lickety split,” the source said. “They were flashing the incoming traffic. Everyone was blowing their horns at them.”
