Colorado Lottery officials warned Wednesday of a scam related to the Spanish Lottery game El Gordo, “the Fat One,” which has $2.4 billion in total prizes in a drawing today.

Potential victims of the scam will get a letter in the mail with a Spanish postage stamp and the address of official Spanish organizations and official-looking documents purporting to inform that the recipient is a winner in the drawing, lottery officials said in a statement.

In order to claim the prize, the recipient is told to send bank account information and pay a processing fee. The “winners” never receive their prize, and the criminals get their money and more, lottery officials said.
