Metretek Technologies Inc. on Thursday raised its guidance for revenues in 2006. “Our current expectation is that consolidated revenues in 2006 will be in the range of $80 million to $85 million,” said W. Phillip Marcum, president and chief executive of the company.

Gryphon Gold Corp. of Denver and Vancouver, British Columbia, announced in a Securities and Exchange filing Thursday it has completed its initial public offering of 6.9 million units for gross proceeds of about $5.1 million. The shares are listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol “GGN.”

Frank King, a Westminster Allstate Insurance agent, received the Agency Hands in the Community award for his commitment to volunteering in the community. With the award came a $500 grant from the Allstate Foundation for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, where King volunteers.

Verizon Wireless awarded a grant of $15,000 this month to SafeHouse Denver Inc. as part of its longstanding commitment to domestic-violence prevention. Earlier this year, Verizon Wireless contributed another $11,000 along with phones and airtime through its Verizon Wireless HopeLine program, bringing its total contributions to nearly $50,000 in 2005.

Daniels & Associates LP of Denver represented Highland Cellular Holdings Inc. in selling radio-frequency licenses to Verizon Wireless, Daniels announced Thursday. Verizon Wireless acquired the licenses in Toledo and Lima, Ohio.

Lowe’s, the home-improvement retailer, opened a 116,000-square-foot store in Colorado Springs at 4252 Royal Pine Drive.

Storm Cat Energy Corp. of Denver and Calgary, Alberta, announced Thursday it has closed on a previously announced $2.5 million private placement of 992,063 shares of stock at $2.52 per share. Storm Cat will use the proceeds to fund its exploration and drilling programs.

Vericept Corp., a Denver- based provider of compliance and content-control solutions, qualified as one of three finalists for Best Government Solution at the Gartner Government Solution Summit, held Dec. 5-7 in Orlando, Fla. The awards recognize the most outstanding solutions and programs in the federal information-technology sector.

The Fitzsimons Redevelopment Authority announced Thursday it has signed a lease with DMI BioSciences for nearly 15,000 square feet, making it the first tenant of Bioscience East, a newly renovated 25,000-square-foot building in the bioscience park at Fitzsimons.
