Denver Newspaper Agency state circulation manager Rick Charbonneau sees art in the most unusual places. Though there are wheels under this piece, it stays put in one of our mountain towns. Where is it, and how did it get to Colorado? Send your guess and how you knew to coloradosunday@denverpost.com, and include a digital photo of yourself. We’ll pick one tale to share next week. The best one wins $50 in movie tickets.
how’d you know?
Last week: License plate fish, East Orchard Mesa
Winner: Harvey Tashiro, Lucky Ducks Farm, Palisade
This is a sculpture of a fish made from Colorado license plates. It is located in a private yard on C 1/2 Road in East Orchard Mesa, just south of Palisade. The sculptor’s name is Lyle Nichols, who lives in East Orchard Mesa. Lyle is quite well known in the local area with sculptures displayed throughout Mesa County. He has a great sense of humor. Although it was hard to see in the photo, there is a pair of human legs sticking out of the mouth of the fish. I know where the sculpture is located because my organic peach farm is just down the road.
