Realtor of the Year: Duane Whisler
Metro broker Duane Whisler of Arvada-based Team Whisler has been named 2005 Realtor of the Year by the Jefferson County Association of Realtors.
Whisler, who recently joined Metro brokers from Re/Max, was recognized for his service and dedication to the real estate profession and its community.
Whisler has served the association for more than 14 years, including as president, vice president, director and senior instructor. He also has acted as a director of the Colorado Association of Realtors and is on the Metrolist board of directors.
Keller Williams aids gulf victims
Agents in the 24 Keller Williams offices throughout Colorado raised more than $70,000 to help its gulf states market centers recover from Hurricane Katrina.
In all, the Austin, Texas, real estate firm and its public charity, Keller Williams Realty Cares, have raised $4.4 million.
Denver-Aurora No. 63 in real estate ranking
Denver-Aurora ranks No. 63 on Fortune magazine’s list of the top 100 real estate markets.
Fortune asked Moody’s Economy.com and Fiserv CSW to analyze home sales data for the country’s 100 largest metro regions. They ranked each area by its projected price change for 2006.
In Denver, the projected home prices are expected to rise 2.6 percent next year and 2.5 percent in 2007. In San Antonio, the No. 1 market, prices are expected to rise 8.3 percent next year, while in Las Vegas, which ranks last, prices are expected to decline 7.9 percent.
Rates on 30-year mortgages slip for 2nd week
National rates on 30-year mortgages dipped for a second week as financial markets responded to signals of lower inflation. Mortgage giant Freddie Mac reported Thursday that rates on 30-year, fixed-rate mortgages averaged 6.26 percent last week, down slightly from 6.30 percent the week before. Below are average mortgage rates in Denver, Adams and Arapahoe counties as of Thursday and the previous 52 weeks. The one-year Treasury bill average reported by the Federal Reserve Bank is 4.34 percent. The Cost of Funds Index for October from the Federal Home Loan Bank (11th District) was 3.074 percent.
