Boulder company Webroot Software Inc. wants to go public soon, hiring two senior managers and opening a new office in Silicon Valley, Calif., to position itself in the market, a spokesman said.

Webroot makes anti-spyware software called Spy Sweeper Enterprise that helps computer users fend off hackers and other threats. It plans to offer new products this year with the help of a new chief technology officer and a new chief financial officer, said Mike Irwin, chief operating officer.

“Hiring these two individuals is a signal not only of the recent growth that we have had, but our confidence in the continued growth in the product line and our push to continue to position ourselves for an initial public offering,” Irwin said.

New technology officer Gerhard Eschelbeck has presented computer research to Congress and was named one of InfoWorld’s 25 most influential technology executives in 2003 and 2004.

Joshua Pace, the new CFO, was most recently at software company OpenWave Systems in California, which has a market capitalization of $1.4 billion, Irwin said.

In February, Webroot received $108 million in venture capital funding, the largest Colorado venture capital investment of the year.
