Q: I sent my resume to a company via a recruiter… they said they wanted to pass even though I am fully qualified. What should I do, and how do I get feedback?
SCOTT: As with any profession, not all recruiters are good, and it’s important to understand that they work for their client company and not you.
Third-party recruiters are typically paid 20-30 percent of a placed employee’s first year salary by the client and if they please the client, the client will use them again and continue to pay their fees. It makes sense, actually.
Don’t take it personally that you got passed over for the job. There could be a variety of reasons, and it’s your recruiter’s job to find out why.
If he/she is experienced they will get that feedback for you and if they have your best interest in mind, they will submit your resume to other clients and work hard to get you placed.
