CHSAA
Hall of fame: The state organization’s annual hall of fame banquet will be Wednesday at the Radisson Hotel Denver Southeast (I-225 and Parker), 6:30 p.m. Individual tickets are $37.50 through the CHSAA, 303-344-5050.
The 17th class in the history of the organization features a broad range of inductees: longtime Denver Prep League coaches Herman Motz (Thomas Jefferson/Colorado High School Coaches Association) and Betsy Allen (Manual, Montbello and East); three former student participants in Chris Babbs (East), Scott Wilson (Custer County) and Hale Irwin (Boulder); longtime basketball and football official Tom Fincken; and former Air Academy vocal music icon David Filsinger.
Also, Darryl Miller, an 18-year veteran teacher in Denver Public Schools and the district’s athletic trainer, will be honored with the CHSAA’s Distinguished Service Award. Dr. Andy Motz and Advanced Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Specialists will be honored with the Colorado Tradition Award that goes to a CHSAA corporate sponsor for their support of high school athletics and activities. Dr. Motz and his partners have been huge in medical coverage of CHSAA events for the past 10 years.
