Manhattan, Kan. – Colorado was outscored 36-6 in the final 10 minutes of the first half and never recovered in an 85-66 loss Saturday night to Kansas State.
Twiggy McIntyre scored 22 points to lead Kansas State (12-1, 2-2 Big 12).
Trailing 21-20 after Colorado’s Yari Escalera made a 3-point shot, Kansas State scored the next 17 points.
Jessica McFarland and Claire Coggins each scored 10 points for the Wildcats and Shalee Lehning finished with 10 assists.
Kansas State shot 50 percent from the field for the game, 69 percent in the first half to take a 56-27 lead.
The Wildcats led by as much as 33 in the second half before the Buffs cut into the margin.
Jasmina Ilic led Colorado (6-10, 1-3) with 14 points, Hannah Skildum had 12, Jackie McFarland had 11 points and 10 rebounds and Caley Dow added 11 points. It was McFarland’s ninth double-double of the season.
CU shot 44 percent from the field, but 25 turnovers turned into 32 points for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats have beaten Colorado seven straight times, and the Buffaloes have lost 10 straight conference road games.
Colorado kept the pace early leading 14-10 five minutes into the game and was up 21-20 at the 10:54 mark of the first half.
But then Kansas State went on its 17-0 run to take command of the game.
