Getting your player ready...

KCNC-Channel 4 is riding that Bronco harder than a cowboy at the National Western.

“The Official Broncos Station” will be riding high again on Sunday when it carries the AFC Championship Game, pitting Denver against Pittsburgh.

Why not? The numbers for Saturday’s Denver-New England game were huge, drawing a 70 share, meaning almost three-

fourths of TVs turned on were tuned to the game. The telecast buried rivals, even KUSA-Channel 9’s well-meaning and star-studded – but woefully ill-scheduled – panel talk on immigration.

The local lineup:

“Drive 4 the Championship” – A half-hour with players, their families and fans (6:30 tonight).

“Drive 4 the Championship” – Putting on your game face (6:30 p.m. Friday).

“apountdown to Kickoff” – Steve Atkinson, Vic Lombardi and Gary Miller dish (6 p.m. Saturday).

“The Mike Shanahan Show” – The coach speaks (6:30 p.m. Saturday).

“apountdown to Kickoff” – Warming up, including a repeat of Saturday’s “Mike Shanahan Show” and the pregame show from Invesco Field at Mile High with Atkinson, Lombardi and Miller (10 a.m.-noon Sunday).

AFC Championship Game (1 p.m. Sunday).

Postgame coverage and CBS4News (4:30 p.m. Sunday).

“Broncos All Access” – A wrap-up, with interviews, as part of the station’s hour-long newscast at 10 p.m. Sunday.

If it bleeds orange, it leads.

The Voice

“The neat part of all this is that I fly to Turin, Italy, after the game for the Olympics.”

Alan Roach, sports guy on “Colorado Morning News” on KOA 850-AM, after he heard he’ll be showering his basso tones on the crowd as public-address announcer for Super Bowl XL at Ford Field in Detroit on Feb. 5.

He’ll also do PA for the men’s hockey games at Turin.
