Q: Dear Scott,

I’ve been dating my boyfriend for about six months now. He treats me like a queen and says he loves me.

I can honestly say I’ve never been happier in a relationship — this is the first time I’ve really been able to trust someone because I’ve had my heart broken so many times. Everything is perfect, except this one little issue that keeps coming up.

He has a German shepherd mix. He is a great dog except once in a while he misbehaves — pees in the house, barks at people walking by, etc.

The problem is my boyfriend’s reaction when this happens. He goes crazy!

Sometimes the dog pees like a girl dog and when that happens my boyfriend makes the dog wear a little doggy dress. He says, “If he’s gonna act like a little sissy he can look like one too!” And the poor dog goes and cowers under the table in the dress.

If he barks too much I’ve seen him lock him in another room with a muzzle on and forces the dog to listen to those cats singing Christmas carols. The dog goes berserk!

If he licks himself, my man spreads peanut butter on the roof of his mouth and laughs as the poor dog struggles to get it off.

He also can get a little rough with him. Now, I’m not a huge animal person, but I do feel bad for him sometimes.

What do you think about this, Scott? It makes me really uncomfortable.

Do you think that this is a sign that he could possibly be abusive to me in the future? Everything else is great — I really want this to work out!

Thanks for your help!

-Wishing for puppy love

SCOTT: The thought that you could be with a guy who puts a dress on his dog and peanut butter in its mouth and plays cat music to antagonize it causes me to question what kind of person you are.

Now envision your future with him. If you ever wanted children, what kind of father do you think he’d be?

Exactly!

A dog’s behavior strongly reflects the behavior of its owner as well as how it is raised. Get it? Your boyfriend shouldn’t even be allowed to have a dog.

I hope you figure this out and call the Dumb Friends League to report the cruelty for the sake of that poor animal. Their number is 303-696-4941.

This makes me completely sick. Dogs are extremely trusting, and sadly, they don’t get to choose their owners.

That poor dog is miserable and abused and you’re the only one who can make a difference and put a stop to it. I sincerely hope you’ll see this for what it is and come to your senses.

I’m going to go throw up now.
