Colorado Springs native Jeff Plush was named vice president and managing director for the Rapids of Major League Soccer. He will oversee all activities for the team and the front office. Plush was previously the senior director of marketing and business development for Kroenke Sports Enterprises, LLC, and helped with the acquisition and continuing oversight of the Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League.

Dallas tops NWBA tourney in Lakewood

The Dallas Mavericks of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association’s Division I finished with a 3-0 record at the NWBA’s three-day tournament that ended Sunday at the Whitlock Recreation Center in Lakewood.

The Denver Rolling Nuggets and the Milwaukee Wheelchair Bucks each finished 2-1. Dallas came from behind to beat Denver in its first game, winning 104-85. The Mavericks outscored the Nuggets 31-16 in the fourth quarter, as Dallas’ Paul Schulte finished with a game-high 34 points. Denver was led by Jay Nelms and Christina Ripp, who each had 17 points. Team Canada finished 0-2, and the Phoenix Banner Wheelchair Suns went 0-3.
