Getting your player ready...

There’s no sneaking quietly into T&J’s Parshall Inn, thanks to an enormous bell hanging on the front door. But then, in a remote town of 48, strangers tend to get a glance or two and the bell signals swivel time on the PI’s well-worn barstools. Toby and Jerry’s place isn’t an inn, and it’s more of a bar than an eatery. But Toby in the back cooks up a mean burger, and Jerry up front pours a meaner drink at the penny-encrusted bar. There must be several thousand cents buried under resin on that bar. With a pool table in the back and a rare shuffleboard game in the front, T&J’s Parshall Inn is a step back in time to when Colorado’s mountains were traveled by rugged vagabonds, not pampered tourists. The lonely outpost of Parshall, which is between Kremmling and Granby, is one of the state’s last holdouts in the losing fight to keep it real. Just sit back with a Bud, absorb the all-country jukebox and enjoy one of the last relics of vintage Colorado.

Get there — 146 1 Ave., Parshall, 970-725-9997.
