T.O.? Oh, no!
As a lifelong Broncos fan, I am disappointed with the thought of Terrell Owens in Denver. He is an embarrassment to the NFL and the mere thought of bringing him to town brings discredit to what is otherwise a classy organization. Super Bowls are achieved and won through the complete effort of the team, and the Broncos are almost back to that level. Let’s not ruin the progress by bringing this selfish egotist to our city.

A clueless thought
Get a clue Broncos! T.O. has a history of ripping his quarterback when he doesn’t get the ball into his hands on every play. Jake Plummer is a quarterback with a history of making mistakes (read: not getting the ball into his receivers’ hands) in critical situations and who is taking most of the blame for the Broncos’ playoff loss. Not a recipe for success. Want to see your future with T.O. in the lineup, Shanahan? Look at the 49ers and Eagles. You’ll be lucky if you see the Super Bowl again in another seven years.

Owens needs help
Is there a general manager with the fortitude to not sign Terrell Owens to an 2006-07 contract? This is an emotionally damaged young man who will ruin the chemistry in any clubhouse. The saddest component is that no one (agent, friends, etc.) has attempted to get this sick person the professional help that he requires. A sad reflection on our society.

A sad day coming
Being a Denver native, my parents taught me to be a Broncos fan in the early 1960s, and I carried that passion to Phoenix, then Washington D.C. and then on to Saudi Arabia and Iraq during two Gulf Wars. It is lonely being a Broncos fan where you have the ‘Skins and then the Ravens are only 30 miles away. Watching these franchises and the rest of the NFL, the Broncos have always stood out as a “class act,” and this past season they certainly epitomized the concept of “team before self.”
So why would they even consider putting a Broncos jersey on the very person who symbolizes everything that is wrong with the NFL? For years I have sat my boys in front of the TV on Sundays, and explained to them the “Mile High Salute,” bragged about Mike Anderson’s military service before the NFL, etc. etc. If T.O. shows up at Invesco as anything but an opposing player it demonstrates that all of that was just showmanship, and never really did stand for anything more than getting a camera zoomed in on them. All of the Orange and Blue in my house will be sent to the basement, to be shown someday to the grandkids with nostalgic talk of “I remember when.”
