Tyler Thyfault, a senior at Arvada West High School, has a 4.0 grade-point average. He is a starter on the varsity basketball team.

Tyler has been All-Conference for the past three years and is the team captain this year. He holds the school record for free throws and for successful three-point shots and was a starting wide receiver on the Final Four football team last fall. Tyler has put in hours of free time in the weight room to make himself a better athlete.

Tyler is a recipient of the Colorado School of Mines Medal of Achievement in Math and Science in 2005. He was selected last year to attend summer seminars at the U.S. Air Force and Naval academies.

Tyler has received a Masonic Award for leadership, character, integrity and scholastic success. He was an Elks Student of the Month in 2005 and a junior escort for Arvada West graduation.

He has received an academic scholarship to Colorado School of Mines, though he has not yet decided which college he will attend.

Classes that Tyler has taken include Advanced Placement calculus, honors chemistry and economics, college prep English and two years of Spanish.
