
For a brewers dinner Thursday at the Wynkoop Brewing Co. in LoDo, Will Poole of Wen Chocolates teamed with Oskar Blues Brewery to match mendiants, dark and white chocolate coins encrusted with candied fruit and salted, roasted nuts with B3K Schwartz, Cherry Kreik Ale and Sagebrush Stout; and Savannah truffles, an Eastern European blend of hot red pepper and honey in dark chocolate with Patty’s Chili Beer. Porters and stouts. Dark beers that have coffeelike flavors go well with just about any chocolate, and can substitute for coffee with dessert. Brewer and chef Garrett Oliver suggests serving Imperial stout with flourless chocolate-almond cake and whipped cream.
“Weizen” beers and strong ales. Banana and clove notes in fruity-spicy beers enhance fruit aromas in chocolates and complement fruit-based desserts.
Pale malty beers and ales. Tasty with chocolate chip cookies.
