Former Denver Broncos cornerback Willie Middlebrooks pleaded guilty today to misdemeanor assault in Arapahoe County.
Middlebrooks was given an 18-month deferred judgement and ordered to attend domestic violence classes for 36 weeks, said Kathleen Walsh, a spokeswoman for the Arapahoe County District Attorney’s Office.
Sherrie Holmes, Middlebrooks’ girlfriend at the time of the assault, called police at 3:53 a.m. New Year’s Day 2005 and reported that Middlebrooks struck and choked her at a home they were sharing in Arapahoe County. Middlebrooks became angry with Holmes after she earlier talked with a man outside a Denver nightclub, according to a police report.
Middlebrooks is not allowed to drink alcohol, possess non-prescription drugs or carry a firearm, according to the plea agreement.
