Basketball officials will host a banquet on Feb. 19 at Regis University, 5:30 p.m. One of the highlights will be the Jim Dorsey Class Act Award, the second annual presentation to an official who best exemplifies Dorsey’s commitment, mentoring and passion for officiating.
Dorsey has combined teaching, coaching and officiating for more than four decades and aids the Colorado High School Activities Association and Metropolitan League in assigning and critiquing officials.
Soccer
Liberty senior players Spenser Lang and Sean Reed were honored at the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on Jan. 21 in Philadelphia for being selected to the 2005 NSCAA/Adidas Boys High School Scholar All-America Team. They were the only two from Colorado to be selected to the team of 34 players throughout the country.
To be selected to the team, players must be seniors who have a minimum 3.75 cumulative grade-point average and have exhibited excellence in high school soccer. The committee evaluates the players’ academic and athletic information as well as involvement with their communities.
