Anschutz deal pledges shares of Forest Oil

Anschutz Corp., the investment arm of Philip Anschutz, pledged 400,000 shares of Forest Oil Corp. on Wednesday in a forward sales contract, according to a regulatory filing.

Anschutz received $16.9 million in cash upfront in return for agreeing to provide the shares in 2010. The value of the contract will adjust depending on how Forest’s stock performs in the interim. Anschutz Corp. is the second-largest owner of Forest Oil with 7.9 million shares.

Ball Aerospace gets weather-satellite pact

Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. of Broomfield has been awarded a $2 million contract to help develop the next generation of weather satellites for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

Ball Aerospace will develop a lightning mapper for the new Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites.

Parking-rate increase helps lift DIA revenue

Denver International Airport had a 10 percent increase in non- airline revenues last year, according to DIA chief financial officer Stan Koniz.

The primary driver was a parking-rate increase in mid-June, which accounted for about half of the $10 million increase in parking revenues. Alcohol sales were up more than 17 percent, while other concession revenues also grew.

AmeriVest board OKs liquidation proposal

AmeriVest Properties Inc. announced Thursday that its board of directors approved a liquidation plan.

Under the plan, AmeriVest intends to sell its assets on an orderly basis to pay off liabilities and distribute remaining cash to its stockholders. The plan needs shareholder approval.

Hospital finances bill clears Senate panel

A bill that would require the state’s hospitals to report financial and other information cleared its first hurdle Thursday when the state Senate’s Health and Human Services Committee approved it 5-1. The bill next goes to the Senate’s Appropriations Committee.

Bullhorn newsweekly ceases publication

Rocky Mountain Bullhorn publisher Joseph Rouse announced that the alternative newsweekly located in Fort Collins would cease operations. The paper’s last published issue date was Feb. 2.

Since August, the Bullhorn had been negotiating a merger with another alternative newsweekly. Those negotiations abruptly ended Wednesday.
