Denver is taking a huge step forward in urban planning. Three buildings by world-famous architects are now in the works, and each will draw visitors from across the state. All designers have websites that will help familiarize you with other projects and give you a clue of what’s to come:

adjaye.com International up-and- comer David Adjaye is designing the new 25,000- square-foot headquarters for the Museum of Contemporary Art/ Denver. It’s set to open late this year or early in 2007. He built his reputation on a building called the Idea Store in London. It shows what he can do in small spaces, like the museum’s new location at 15th and Delgany streets.

stevenholl.com Steven Holl recently won the competition to design the main building for the new Denver Justice Center downtown. He isn’t known for building courthouses, but this site will give you a glimpse of how he has applied his acclaimed vision to homes, schools, museums and other buildings. Don’t miss Chapel Of St. Ignatius in Seattle.

daniel-libeskind.com Daniel Libeskind is the mind behind the high-profile Denver Art Museum addition, which opens in the fall. In the meantime, you can see what he’s building around the world in places like Hong Kong; Copenhagen, Denmark; and Seoul, South Korea. He’s an interesting writer, and some of his essays are posted, as well.
