Zach Amdurer, a trumpet player and a senior at Green Mountain High School in Lakewood, has a 3.92 grade-point average.

Zach plays in a jazz combo called New and Improved, which performs locally. He is a featured soloist in the Green Mountain Jazz Group and recently played on radio station KUVO.

Zach was invited to play at the 2006 Colorado Music Educators’ Association at the Broadmoor hotel in Colorado Springs. As section leader of the trumpets in the marching band, Zach will perform with the 110-member band at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in New York City in March.

Zach’s interests include baseball, politics, world travel and movies. He has traveled to Africa, Europe, Canada, Mexico and across the United States. Zach was a Boettcher Scholarship candidate.

Along with jazz, concert band and honors physics, he is taking Advanced Placement classes in literature, calculus and world history. He has already completed AP classes in American history, French, European history and English.

Zach has been accepted to Tufts University in Boston, where he plans to major in biology with a focus on genetics and possibly a minor in music.
