Grand Junction – Micky Schlagel grabbed a rebound and then made two free throws with eight seconds left to give Mesa State a 72-69 victory over Western State. The Mavericks (16-8, 10-6 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) took a 70-69 lead with 30 seconds left when Adam Wall made 1-of-2 free throws. Carleton Goggins had 21 points for Western State (7-16, 3-13).

COLORADO MINES 77, COLORADO CHRISTIAN 71, OT

Lakewood – The Orediggers came from 10 points down at halftime to force overtime and get a road win. Mines (12-12, 7-9 RMAC) shot almost 52 percent in the second half after shooting less than 31 percent in the first. Franklin Ryk led Mines with 19 points, including 4-of-8 on 3-pointers. Brian Stamer topped the Cougars (9-15, 6-10) with 23 points.

Women

COLORADO MINES 51, COLORADO CHRISTIAN 39

Lakewood – Ashley Gronewoller scored 12 points to lead the Orediggers. Mines (14-10, 8-8 RMAC) shot 40 percent for the game while holding the Cougars to less than 22 percent shooting. Sara Davis topped the Cougars (4-22, 1-15) with 10 points.

WESTERN ST. 65, MESA ST. 53

Grand Junction – Audra Lawson had 24 points and 18 rebounds to lead the Mountaineers (8-15, 6-10 RMAC) to the road win. The Mavericks (8-16, 6-10) took a 53-52 lead with about five minutes to play on a 3-pointer by Rebekah Calvert, then Lawson made two free throws and a layup to put Western State up for good.
